I Must Not Shop. I Must Not Shop.

Right so I went a little crazy in Boots! Someone really needs to control me!! I told my boyfriend he had to cut my cards up - his reply? "I don't need to you'll be cut off from the bank soon anyway!" Unfortunately, this is probably true! After January payday I am really going to try and curb my spending! So until at least early April I am not going to do any haul posts because I will NOT be doing any hauls!

As you saw in my last post I am a big nail art fan. And doing that post made me realise there are quite a few new designs I want to try it and for them I need new equipment! I already have the white one, but it has gone a bit gloopy,so I thought I'd buy a fresh one, and I got silver too for some pretty, intricate swirly bits. I really would recommend models own nail pens as they've worked really well for me in the past and they are, as far as I know, the most accessible brand of nail pen (I don't know of any other drug store brand that sell nail pens)

Now my next purchase seems pretty boring, but hear me out! After seeing Zoellla's drugstore video haul where she mentioned these - I suddenly began to question why I had never bought these bad boys before! They are double the size of normal cotton wool pads, and since I normally end up using about 3 cotton wool pads to take my make up off I figure they are a wise investment!

So obviously I couldn't just stop at nail pens and had to buy some actual nail varnish too! The first two Rimmel nail varnishes (280 Sunshine and 813 Round and Round the Garden) I bought for specific projects I have planned - so keep tuned for updates! The Essie nail varnish (in Cocktail Bling) I mainly bought on a whim because I wanted to try the brand since I never have, I applied it two days ago and its still going strong chip-free so so far I'm very impressed! And finally I got a Models Own black crackle effect nail varnish. I know I'm being a bit slow on the uptake here especially for someone who loves painting, but I've never used crackle nail varnish before. I always kinda felt it was a cop-out nail art, sorry if you use it all the time and love it! But I am now a crackle effect owner and I will let you know what I think of it!

Yep I also bought make up. Also on a whim. I am a bad girl and a crazy shopaholic someone help me! I've never bought Soap and Glory make up before but I have used loads of their lotions and hair products so I reckon I'm onto a winner with these! I bought the Supercat eyeliner, which I've been using all week and is absolutely fool proof! I also bought their Super Sizing lip crayon - which I've yet to use but I will review when I have, similarly with the Great Kisser lip balm. I actually wasn't going to buy that, but when I got to the till the lady at the till told me it was buy two get the third free and who am I to argue with that!?

Yes another whim purchase, I will stop with the last minute purchases now, promise! HOWEVER, in my defence this ginormous bottle of shampoo was only £1 and it has Tea Tree extract in it, and it smells crazy minty! Although I'm not overly impressed with it now I've used it. It doesn't lather particularly well, although I did shampoo my hair twice and on the the second shampooing it did lather better. But after I had washed it out my hair felt sort of dry. I've experienced this before with shampoo, and I much prefer when my shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean and conditioned and nourished :)

I bought this Clean and Clear Morning Energy face wash because it smells AMAZING. There is nothing better to wake you up in the morning that this lemony scented scrub you can take my word for it! I have a lot of problems with products like this because I can get pretty bad eczema around my eyes but so far this seems to be fine, I think as long as I moisturise my face straight after I should be good

Let me know what you think of my haul, or as usual if you have a blog then post a link in the comment box below and I'll come and check it out!

Insta Nail Art

Firstly, I want to apologise for the quality of these photos, I took them on my iPhone 3s, therefore it has no flash and the camera quality is not all that amazing. ALSO I uploaded them straight to instagram which is where I had taken them from, sooooo there are blurry focus bits and filters, which make the pictures look better on Instagram but when they are all large on the screen like this they look a bit rubbish. I just realised that I constantly complain and apologise about the photo quality - not to self, get a better camera and a better phone!

These are my Valentines Day inspired nails that I have at the minute, although they are probably a bit premature for Valentines day! The base colour is Barry M in Baby Pink, the roses are just a cheap red nail art pen I bought, and the black is Models Own nail art pen in black. I saw this design in the Nail Art book my boyfriend got me for Chistmas (I posted about it here) and since I was feeling particularly girly decided it was the perfect design for my nails this week!

These as you can probably guess were my Christmassy/New Years nails. The base colour is Barry M in Bright Pink, and the glitter is also Barry M in Red Glitter

These nails were inspired by the snowy weather of late, although I live in central Manchester and to be honest the snow here has been pathetic! I am so not happy with the British clouds right now for not giving me the snow day which every single other person in the country seems to have enjoyed! The base coat on four of my nails is Barry M in Turquoise and the one on my wedding finger is Barry M in Blueberry Ice Cream and the white is Models Own nail art pen in White.

As you can see I have a slight obsession with Barry M, although I am now attempting to branch out in the nail varnish department, I have my eye on a couple of Essie colours but I am really begrudged to spend that amount of money when I could buy about 3 normal nail varnishes for the price of one Essie one!

You can see a few more of my nail art creations if you follow me on Instagram here! Let me know what you think of my designs, and if you post about nail art often or take photos of your nails and post them on Instagram please put the link in the comment box below! I love to see what other people design on their nails and get inspitration from sites like Pintrest all the time. (You can also have a look at my Pintrest profile here if you're interested!)

7 Deadly Rings

Firstly I want to say that I have been a very poor blogger recently! I went home for a few days and then life was really hectic when I got back so haven't had much chance to post! But I have a few things planned and I'm thinking of introducing regular weekly posts on certain days to get me into a proper blogging routine!

1/ flying birds ring: Topshop, £8.50
2/ catseye off band ring: Topshop, £8.50
3/ reversible stone ring: Topshop, £6.50
4/ ottoman hands mini delicate ring: Asos, £15.00
5/ stag ring: junkjewels.co.uk, £6.00
6/ pearl multi finger ring: River Island, £6.00
7/ magpie ring: junkjewels.co.uk, £6.00

But lets get on with the post.....I am a massive jewellery hoarder! I might as well admit it now. Necklaces in particular I have tonnes of, but this month I find myself coveting rings! I sort of forget to put rings on most of the time - shame on me. But I always love other people whoe wear about 5 on each hand. So I've decided I'm now going to be a ring girl.

I have one ring which my mum bought for me which I never take off, I wear it every single day. It's a silver band with a Celtic design and a square stone of Whitby jet. My Nan is from Whitby and we go there every year to visit family so this ring has special importance to me (I like to think of myself as a Whitby girl at heart - I'm definitely not one of
the tourists that visit every summer because to me that place is home). I wanted to take a photo of this ring to post on here for you, but my camera is back at home and I'm currently posting from uni, I'll try and get a photo of it in my next OOTD post for you though!

These are the 7 rings which are at the very top of my January wish list. I particularly love the catseye one from Topshop because it reminds me of the YSL artsy ring everyone was coveting last year. But I also love the reversible rune on from Topshop, because as I've probably mentioned I love magicy stuff and I think this ring has a magic kind of feel to it!

The stag ring and the magpie ring are from one of my favourite online jewellery stores. A friend of mine sent me a link to it a couple of years ago knowing that I would love the items on there and I've been a regular visitor ever since! So thanks for the tip Em!

Anyway ie rambled on for long enough now, let me know what you think of the rings I've pictured, or if there are any rings you have been admiring from a far this month!

It's fashion darling.

So now my Christmassy and New Years posts are out of the way its down to the real business! Firstly I want to say I'm sorry for the fairly poor quality in the first two photos, its the first set I've photos I've done in this room and I've yet to figure out the best place to take them. Also I should have zoomed in but I forgot, and then I had to go to Uni so didn't get chance to take them again. Now I've ended up having to crop them and the quality just isn't as good. Oh well, technical rant over, improved photo quality in the future I promise!

As my first fashion post I thought I'd do an OOTD, that way you guys can see who I am and what my personal style is. Normally I try and stay away from head-to-toe black, don't get me wrong I do love black, but I try to steer myself away from it now and then since I ALWAYS gravitate towards it! This is what I wore to Uni today, I haven't worn this tshirt dress yet because I wasn't too happy with the fit at first, but I really like it with my blazer over the top. I think it would look really good with my cropped PU leather jacket too, but unfortunately I've left that at my friend's house!

After seeing loads of bloggers positively rave about the super cosy tights from Primark I thought I'd give them a try, although I was slightly ambivalent towards them, thinking - "Well they're just tights right? What is everyone so excited about?" How wrong could I be! They are the best thing I have bought in a long time and I'm tempted to buy about 20 pairs to stock up in case they stupidy decide to stop selling them - then what would I do? I highly suggest that if you have a spare £3.50 knocking around in your pocket you should invest! You probably won't be excited about them at this stage, but I promise touching is believing, and once your leg has entered that fleecy coating of heaven that is the inside of these tights you will never look back!

 T-shirt - The Orange Circle
Blazer - H&M
Tights - Primark (Super Cosy)
I actually wore this look with red lips too, but only put it on seconds before I left the house so didn't get chance to snap a photo! Let me know what you think of my outfit and if you'd like to see more outfit of the day posts! Once again post links to your own blogs in the comment section and I will definitely come check you out....so to speak ;)

Looking Forward

First of all I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has read and commented on my blog, and especially to those of you who follow me! For such a new blog I was really not expecting this kind of response! I started this blog because I missed blogging and I genuinely enjoy writing about fashion (although I haven't actually done any really fashiony posts yet but I PROMISE some are on the way this week!). Having only done three posts I really didn't expect to have 16 followers already, and I am so touched - I thought I would literally be chattering away to myself for at least a month before even one person decided I was worthy of a follow!

This is going to be my last holiday season post and after this I'll be properly beginning my fashion, beauty and style posts. I wanted to write a post on some goals I have set myself for this year, just so I can look back at the end of the year and see how well I have stuck to them. I don't want to say that these are 'New Years Resolutions' because then I feel pressured to stick to them religiously and also that they are only temporary, because let's be honest who carries on with their New Years resolutions beyond mid February? So instead they are goals, not just for this year but to help improve my life in the long run.

1/ Attend University

Okay so I'm in my second year of uni and last term my attendance was far from perfect! I do enjoy my course and obviously I aim to come out with a really good degree, hopefully a first if I can get it! But this year I really need to prioritise my uni work over everything else, after all that's what I'm here for. In my first year uni took a bit of a back seat, with work and having a good time taking priority, but this year it counts towards my final grade and I am determined to turn myself into the muggle version of Hermione!

 2/ New Experiences

This year I want to do a lot more things I've never tried before - I'm not talking illegal substances here! I just want to do some things to spice up my everyday life. I'm currently looking for a new job which is exciting after spending 3 years with the same company, I'm going to Glastonbury this year which I'm really excited for, going to Latvia with my boyfriend, and somewhere with the girls - destination tbc!

3/ Drink More Water

My mum is ALWAYS telling me I should drink more water and it's really true. I know this sounds bad but most of the time I just forget to drink, I don't get overly thirsty and I'm not a big tea drinker like most of my family so a lot of the time I don't really get a lot of pleasure from drinking. But I have quiet bad excema on my shoulders and dark circles under my eyes and have done for the past couple of years so I'm really hoping this will help - the goal is 2 litres a day!

4/ Organise Myself Better

I'm one of those people who feel a lot better in themselves when they know exactly where they are in life and what they have planned. I'm all up for e odd bit of spontinaity but generally I like planned out life! So I've bought myself a lovely 2013 planner from Paperchase and I am determined to use it to its fullest!

Thanks yet again for reading, I really do appreciate each and every one of you! Let me know what you think of my goals and if you have any suggestions or handy hints if you've done similar goals before! And again I love to read new peoples blogs so leave a link and i'll definitely pop by and have a read!

Looking Back

Even though we are six days into the New Year, (oh my god thats nearly a week already! Where has 2013 gone??) I just wanted to reflect back on the year a little bit because it's always good to be appreciative of what you have. 2012 has been one of my best years to date, so 2013 has a lot to live up to (although based on the plans I've already made its going to be incredible!). I'm going to write about three of my favourite times from 2012, now this isn't very fashiony/beautyey but I want this blog to be a little piece of me and my life, and like I said I think it's important for us to look back and appreciate what we have!

1/ Blackpool

For my birthday in September my boyfriend took me to Blackpool because I'd never been there before and I had said I would like to go. Also how can I live only a couple of hours from Blackpool and just never go, isn't it like a right of passage for all British kids!? However, since we went in September and this IS England it was raining. Not just drizzley rain but full on, heavy, wind whipping your hair into your face hurricane season rain, we couldn't go up Blackpool tower because it was closed dues to bad weather conditions, as was pleasure beach. So you would think we had a shit time, but it was actually excellent, we went to see the circus, which I would highly recommend to anyone! And we had fish and chips in Harry Ramsdens, despite the atrocious English weather I had a really good day and it is one of my best memories from 2012.

2/ Boardmasters

In August me and my friend Emily travelled down to Newquay, in Cornwall to attend a festival called Boardmasters. Half of the festival centres around music, while the other half is a surfing, skateboarding and bmxing competition. I have done some surfing in the past but I would never call myself a pro, also I haven't surfed in absolutely years so I doubt I can even do it anymore! However, that didn't stop me from admiring from a far because who doesn't like to watch a few lovely surfers every now and then?? We drove down a few days before the actual music festival started and stayed in a campsite just on the outskirts of Newquay so we could turn our weekender festival into a full weeks worth of English holiday antics. We had a couple of lovely days on the beach, did some retail therapy in Newquay's little boutiques, ate fish and chips and cooked some erm questionable meals back at the campsite on our little Dixie gas cylinders. I think it's safe to say we didn't really plan out our meals, and by the time we ended up going to the festival we were living on a diet of quavers and cider - very nutritious! The festival was amazing though, Ed Sheeran (who Emily has a rather unhealthy obsession with) and Delilah were absolutely incredible, and we discovered a new band called Matthew and Me who we love, please go look at their YouTube videos here. I had such a good week, and writing about it and reliving ally the memories in my head has made me oh so excite for our trip to Glastonbury this year!!!! Eeek!

3/Moving House

Now this seems like quite boring thing to be a best memory of 2012, however, being a second year student means that last year I lived in halls. Now I've been to other peoples halls and some of them are really lovely, unfortunately I didn't live in one like that! So I was more than happy on July the 1st when we moved out of our small flat with no living room, no window in the kitchen or bathroom, a hideous shower and corridors which either smelt of burnt toast or weed! Even though our place no is far from perfect (the kitchen is the size of a shoebox!) and we are planning on moving somewhere else in summer, I love it. I have a have a bigger room and a double bed, we have a living room, a kitchen with an actual window and shower is AWESOME! I live with two of the girls I shared a flat in halls with last year, and it's a lot nicer just having the three of us rather than some 1000 odd students roaming the corridor! The week we moved in we had a BBQ in our courtyard as well which was such a good day with burgers and ciders and sunshine. It probably doesn't sound much to everyone else but it's home and I feel happy when I'm here!

What are your best moments from 2012? I'd love to hear them, just post them in the comment box below or leave me a link to your blog if you've done a similar post yourself and I'll be sure to pop by and have a look!

On the Tenth Day of Christmas

I know this is a little late to be doing a 'What I got for Christmas post', but technically its still only the tenth Day of Christmas, so I'm just going to do it anyway! This post is not meant to be a brag in anyway about what I got, or to show how spoiled I am. I just find these posts really interesting on other people's blogs, and a lot of the things I received I will end up in later posts anyway so I figure its a sort of haul post, and I love them too!

I got this mini wire shelving unit from my Mum, its sort of like a rectangular birdcage with one side missing. It' s so pretty and I love it.Is from Urban Outfitters and me and my Mum saw it when she came to visit me last and I thought it would be perfect to stash all my nail varnishes on, which is what it is currently doing sat on my desk.

I have always had an obscene amount of clothes, but recently I realised that my make-up and shoe collections were lacking. It's about time I rectified the situation! My Mum knows I'm building up my collection so she got me some Barry M brushes, the only problem being they are A LOT prettier than the Body Shop ones I own. So even though I absolutely swear by my Body Shop Brushes, they just look plain in comparison!

This present was also from my Mum, originally from TKMaxx. Its to help me organise all my make-up, because before this I kept it all in a wicker box, and while it was neat and kept it all out of sight, it was a nightmare trying to dig around for the product I needed every morning. I need something else to organise my make up with though, because it doesn't all fix in here, and I am still using my wicker box for the things I don't use as much. The swirly black and white pattern is an added extra from my mum, because before it was just plain clear plastic and a little bit ugly, but now its all pretty!

Ever since I saw the billboard for this film on buses and the like I have been dying to see it, seeing the advert at the cinema has only made me more excited! I love witchy an magical things and I used to be a massive Charmed fan, for those of you who know what I'm on about you know how awesome this show was! My Mum got me the book because she wanted to read it herself and figured that if she gave it to me she could read it afterwards. Although I'm only about a quarter of the way through so far I love it, its a bit Twilighty but from the guys perspective instead of the girls, and obviously about magic instead of Vampires. I would highly recommend it!

My Mum first got me this perfume a couple of years ago just because it had my name on it, and she said that even if it was vile at least it looked pretty! But I actually loved it and used up my whole bottle, I haven't had any for a while so it was a lovely surprise to have this waiting for me on Christmas day. Although I'm not normally a fan of 'celebrity' perfume, especially WAG's perfume, I really do like this scent in spite of myself.

Technically these boots weren't a Christmas present. I persuaded my Mum to buy them from H&M when she last came up to visit me even though she was unsure if she'd wear them. But I told her that if she didn't wear them I would buy them off her because I definitely would! But she gave them to me at Christmas instead and wouldn't let me give her the money for them no matter how much I insisted, sooo - free shoes!

My grandparents got me a plain black suitcase for Christmas because I am always back and forwards between Manchester and home and my red polka dot suitcase I've been using is broken and won't stand up on its own. I saw this gorgeous oriental print holdall in Accessorise in the post-Christmas sales, but it was £28 reduced from £35, so I decided to wait to get it until it had dropped in price again - so I could justify purchasing it better! Apparently my Nan had gone back home and told my Grandad how much I loved the bag and he asked my Nan to pick it up for me the next day when she was in town. It was totally unexpected and really nice of him seeings as they had already given me my presents.
The iPad is from my Dad and it was 100% unexpected! I didn't really have anything specific in mind that I wanted this year so I really hadn't asked for anything from any of my family. I absolutely love this and I've hardly been able to put it down since I got it home! I can sync everything with my iPhone and its brilliant for following blogs and vlogs. It's so light and easily transportable too, so instead of lugging my laptop around everywhere which has a shockingly bad battery life, meaning I have to take my charger too, I can just slip this in my bag and be away!

I decided photographing everything individually was making this post ridiculously long, so I decided to group together these presents from my boyfriend, which is what I probably should have done with my other things too! I only got these presents a couple of days ago because my boyfriend had a bit of a fiasco with his debit cards (he lost them on a night out and had to wait until replacements were sent before he could order anything, and his PIN numbers still haven't arrived!). Because both of us are impatient he actually ended up giving me my presents in two lots. The first two I unwrapped were the Nail Art book and the Deathly Hallows necklace. As I mentioned I love magicy things and Harry Potter is definitely one of the best magical books ever! I was actually considering ordering a Deathly Hallows necklace myself, so I am so pleased with this present! The Nail Art book is from Urban Outfitters and has loads of ideas for decorating your nails, as well as tips and step by step guides. Its so perfect for me because I am always painting my nails and changing the design on them, I have tonnes of nail varnishes and nail art pens and I'm really excited to try out some of the different designs. The rose headband is from DollyBowBow and I'd showed it to my boyfriend months ago so I'm amazed he remembered! I'm really excited to dress it up with a little black dress and curly hair next time I go out!

The shoes were the final present from him, and absolutely the most thoughtful thing ever. I saw these shoes in Primark a couple of months ago, and fell in love. But typically they weren't in my size. I went in twice more to see if they had got any more in, but of course they hadn't. My boyfriend said he would check the Primark in Leeds when he went home for a few days, but I forgot to remind him to check and he never mentioned it so I assumed he had forgotten about them. Unbeknown to me, not only had he checked the Leeds Primark, but also the one in Stockport, the one at the Trafford Centre and one near his flatmate's house. He then asked his brother, who lives in Ireland, to check Dublin's Primark and VOILA! A pair of 6's! So he asked his brother to get them and post them over to Manchester, which is definitely the most effort anyone has ever gone to get me a present, and I am so touched he tried so hard to track them down for me! I am really excited to wear them out instead of just admiring them from the comfort of my own room!

Now this post has been ridiculously long! So I'm sorry, shorter and more easily readable posts in the future I promise! I'd love to know if anyone else has done a 'What I got for Christmas' post, please leave links to your blogs in the comments section if you did, and let me know if this is the kind of thing you like reading about.

A New Start

I'm going to keep this post really short, because  everyone always does an introductory post when they start a new blog and they always end up saying the same sort of thing. I don't want to bore you with the same old blah blah blah, so I'll be brief!

I actually ran a blog a couple of years ago but what with life and things getting in the way it kind of faded into the background and I eventually just stopped posting on it completely, which is really annoying! I started really getting back into following blogs and vlogs in the past couple of months and I realised how much I missed blogging so I decided that in the new year I would get the ball rolling again, and I'm really excited to start posting again!

I already have some posts planned and ready to go, but mainly my blog will include fashion pieces and beauty products I've bought, outfit posts, make-up and beauty reviews and the occasional random rant or lifestyle pieces. Just a place to share my thoughts really. Now I've rambled on for about 5 sentences longer than planned so I'm going to shut up now!
