Home Sweet Home, Part 2

This is part two of my bedroom posts, and here are just a few snaps of my room in Manchester, I haven't got as many vintage pieces or kitsch bits and bobs as I have in my room at home because I haven't had as much time to collect things like I had in my old room, and there's only so much I can change in a room I'm only renting for a year.

Until I uploaded these photos just I didn't realise how long ago I had taken them, the heart shaped wall of photos is now blank, as much as I loved looking at them my room feels much bigger with a plain cream wall, and the photos were constantly falling down because they were only roughly stuck up with blu-tac.
As I told you in my last bedroom post I am a little obsessed with wall stickers and this obsession has followed me to my new house. I also am a little in love with Paris so my room is filled with Eiffel Towers and French lettering.

There aren't as many photos as my last post because for some reason I appear to have lost them, and tonight I am just too exhausted and achy to retake them - really sorry about that!!

Home Sweet Home, Part 1

I've been planning on doing this post for well over a month now, but as some of you may know I've been away from the blogging scene for a while and then when I came back I had other news I wanted to share with you all. So here is the much awaited bedroom post!

Now as much as I wish I could get a full shot of my room, short of knocking out a wall that's kind of impossible, maybe one day I will start a Youtube channel and you can all get a proper tour but until then I have taken a few shots of parts of my room for you to get an idea of what my home style is. Its a two parter because I have a room at home home in the Midlands where my mum lives, and a room in my home in Manchester. Now my room at home, which is the one I'll be showing you today, is a lot more my style than my Manchester room because I'm only renting up here on a years contract so I can't change my room as much as I'd like to. But I can not WAIT to get a house of my own to play with!

This is the best photo of my whole room because you can see across to the other side in the mirror (yeah I realise its hardly estate agent worthy!)
My jewellery box with some of my earrings I took back with my last time I was home, but normally all my jewellery is up in Manchester with me.
This is a very small selection of my book collection, I really love reading, unfortunately I've kind of got out of the habit recently what with uni, work, blogging and general life getting in the way - now really this is no excuse because I've never not read before, no matter how busy my life has been so I really must start again. In fact I've considered adding a monthly book review to my blog, which might actually be a good motivator to encourage me to read again!
The books on these shelves include: Harry Potter, Twilight, Eragon, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, Pride and Prejudice, The Time Travellers Wife, 1984, Shakespeare Complete Works, Style by Lauren Conrad and How To Look Good Naked by Gok Wan.
My mum bought these wall stickers for me a few years ago and they are by far my favourite ones! Since then I have become a tad obsessed with wall stickers, I just think they are such an effective way to decorate your walls without permanently changing them and you can move them around as often as you want, which is awesome for me because I am always moving my room around so need to change my focus wall around quite a lot!
These are a couple of lanterns my mum has put on my windowsill since I have moved out, but they are really pretty and I am considering trying to smuggle them out of the house so they can come join me in Manchester!
This is my desk with two, yes that's right two, cake stands! The first one (left) is a proper cupcake stand which is in my room because it won't really fit in the kitchen without making it look messy, and the second one (right) I bought because I was inspired by an old Youtube room tour video of Dolly Bow Bow's. She used a cake stand like this one to store moisturisers and scrubs etc in, although this was the original plan as you can see I don't actually use it to store cosmetics (yes has baubles in but they are pink and lilac so no one will know what they really are, unless you tell them like I just did....)
The bird houses on the shelf I picked up from charity shops a couple of years ago and the four chickens I knit myself - actually just realised how much I miss knitting, this post is turning out to my lifestyle changing: read again, knit again...
I used to have a whole wall covered in  photos of me and my friends and my family, but as I began to upgrade my room to a more pretty and vintage style, as opposed to the previous messy teenage look I was going for, I needed a nicer way to present my photos. So I started collecting pretty frames and spaced them out on my wall, I never really got to finish it before I left but when I get a house of my own I'm going to move them all there and continue the feature.
This is a bit of a random shot, its my bridesmaid dress I wore for my Mum's friend's wedding when I was four and it hangs on the back of my bedroom door. I wanted to include it because I have always loved the style and the lace is so beautiful, unfortunately I'm a little too big to play dress up in it these days but I still like to admire it from afar!

I hope you like the parts of my Midlands home I've shown you. This is really the ideal style I would have my whole house in if I could! I love girly florals, vintage pieces and neutral colours and when I decorate a house of my very own I think I'll generally go for a Parisian-chic sort of style, but probably with some Gothic twists because I do love chunky wood, exposed brick and wrought iron too - oh the interior design possibilities are endless! Also, let me know if you think doing a monthly book review would be something you'd be interested in reading on this blog, honestly the more I think about it the better an idea it seems!

A Little Mouse with Clogs on, Well I Declare!

So I haven't gone insane with the title of this post, this is an actual song that my nan always used to sing when I was little. So I Youtubed it just and it's got a video and everything!! Check it out here. Anyway, the title is related to where I was earlier this week because the song is on about a mouse who lives in Amsterdam. The trip was supposed to be a surprise for the Boy for his birthday however, it went slightly awry for two reasons:
1/ I booked it through Groupon, and had planned to go at the end of April (because the Boy's birthday is May 9th), but for some reason groupon cancelled all the April dates and we had to go in March instead, wayyyyy early!
2/ The Boy knew we were going away but he didn't know where, that is until my housemate walked into the living room where we were both watching TV and said "When are you two going to Amsterdam again?" Hahahaha - thanks Kelly.

Leaving Newcastle on the ship! It was like a mini cruise ship with about 4 restaurants/bars, a shop, and a cinema! We spent two nights on the ship and only had 5 hours in Amsterdam, which was way too short but for £75 for two people who were we to complain!?

We hired bikes so we could make the most of our time and see as many sights as possible. We decided to go traditional and got Dutch bikes, which don't have hand breaks, to stop or slow down you have to pedal backwards which takes some getting used to!

This is my first attempt at photoshopping like ever! So let me know if you can tell which one of us wasn't in the original photo!! I'm very proud of this not going to lie! Have any of you ever been to Amsterdam? If you haven't I HIGHLY recommend you go, its so pretty and there are so many canals its just like Venice!!

Shamrocks and Leprechauns

Last week I went to Dublin with the Boy to visit his brother, and his brother's girlfriend. I've been to Ireland once before but I was really little and I can't even remember the name of the place we went to! But this time I was really excited because not only was I going a place where everyone has an Irish accent (I really like Irish accents!), but it was also the first time I was meeting any of the Boy's fam - quite nerve racking. But it was fine, his family were really friendly and it was absolutely nothing like Meet the Parents/Fockers - which is always a good thing! Soooooooo anyways, thought I'd share with you some photos of our trip :)

The first day we were constantly on and off buses taking a little tour round the Northern areas of Dublin, and this is us in Howth by the lighthouse.

We visited the Guiness Storehouse, which for those of you who don't know is basically a museum for Guiness. The inside of the building is shaped like a Guiness glass and you find out all about how its made, the history of Guiness, about its founder AND you get to have a free pint at the top!! ....but erm I don't actually like Guiness so I had Fanta :/
There were also cute little horse and carts parked outside! I <3 Horses :)
We also visited a Viking and Medieval museum....

Has anyone else visited Dublin or the Guiness Storehouse? I hope you like these posts about my life rather than the fashion related ones! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Back on Track

So after a break from blogging (which felt like a lifetime!) because of uni deadlines and general life getting in the way, I'm now back and I'm determined to organise my time better so I don't let this happen again! I know you probably won't believe me when I say I literally thought about my blog everyday, and I felt so guilty for not writing or even reading posts! In the past couple of weeks I've been to Ireland and Amsterdam so expect posts on that as well as the bedroom posts I've been intending to do for weeks!

I took these photos ages ago, I think it was January?? I really love this black midi, unfortunately I didn't get the whole length of the dress in the shots, but I'm sure you've all seen this style of dress before. There are so many different styles and patterns available, but as per my usual decision in colour choice I chose black. I think its the most wearable colour and also the least memorable - say if I'd bought a neon pink or bright red, then people would remember it, and I couldn't wear it as regularly as I can with my black....that's my justification for buying so much black anyway!

I posted about the scrabble ring a month or so ago (here) when my boyfriend bought it for me for Valentines Day and the silver ring I wear everyday and never take off. Unfortunately I didn't get a very good shot of it though! I did try retaking the photo but none came out as good as the one above. My silver ring has a Celtic design with a square black stone of Whitby Jet. I like having this ring on all the time because it means something to me, Whitby is where my family are from and we go there nearly every summer. Whereas if it was just some random ring that I wore everyday, it wouldn't mean anything to me.

I still have to wear tights with this dress though, because despite it being Spring the weather in England does not seem to be warming up at all! I've seen girls walking round in shorts and dresses without tights, and I just want to give them a lecture about getting pneumonia....clearly I'm getting old since I would definitely have been one of those girls in my early teens and it would have been my mum giving me the lecture.
